The competent authorities have set 6 controls for the establishment of workers' housing outside urban areas. The controls stipulate the proximity of these dwellings to the necessary living services, and the distance from hazardous areas, torrential streams and the like, provided that the buildings of these dwellings meet the health conditions for workers' housing inside the urban area.

Private sector establishments that provide housing for workers outside urban areas are obliged to carry out the tasks of management, operation and maintenance of such housing, in accordance with health conditions.

<When approving the building and construction plans for the buildings of these residences, the regulations include adherence to the legal procedures followed for the construction of buildings and the requirements of the Saudi Building Code, as well as the security and safety requirements issued by the competent authorities.
The committee specified that the distance of workers' residences from the main urban bloc should not exceed 40 km, and that the locations of single workers' residences should be at least 500 m away from the urban bloc.
