A report by The “Sakani” released this March that 637,549 certificates for the real estate transaction tax on first homes had been issued from the program’s inception through the end of last February, The report also showed an increase in the number of Saudi families benefiting from the various housing and financing options and solutions that “Sakani” provides electronically to its beneficiaries through its website and app. The report indicated that 11,704 families benefited from the program in February, while 16,020 families moved into their homes by utilizing the subsidized mortgage option to purchase ready-to-move-in and under-construction housing units within “Sakani” projects, as well as the self-build option, and residential land available on the “Sakani” website and app, with the aim of facilitating homeownership and raising the homeownership rate to 70% by 2030, in line with the targets of the Housing Program—one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
