The Ministry of Justice revealed that the number of mortgaged properties, documented by notary offices in Saudi Arabia, has reached approximately 30,600 properties since the beginning of the current Hijri year, with residential properties accounting for about 75 percent of that total.
According to the ministry’s data, notary offices in the Riyadh region led in the number of mortgaged property transactions, accounting for 51.3 percent of the total, with 15,751 properties, followed by the Makkah region with 4,533 properties, and then the Eastern Province with 3,406 properties.
The Al-Qassim region recorded 1,558 properties and the Madinah region 1,491 properties, followed by the Tabuk region with 522 properties, then the Jazan region with 497 properties, Ha’il with 492 properties, and Al-Jawf with 378 properties.
As for Najran, the number of mortgaged properties there has reached 283 since the beginning of the current Hijri year, followed by Al-Baha with 276 properties, and then the Northern Border Region with 230 properties.
