A recent report revealed 32,621 hotel rooms currently under construction in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom prepares to meet the demand from pilgrims returning to Mecca and Medina, according to research conducted by “STR,” a firm specializing in hotel research and consulting, on the occasion of the Arabian Travel Market 2022, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from Monday, May 9, to Thursday, May 12.

The report confirmed that the absence of millions of pilgrims has significantly impacted hotel performance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with Medina and Mecca seeing available room revenue rates in 2021 decline by 33% and 24%, respectively.
