The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has started practical steps to establish the new building attached to the Chamber, which was presented to the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah, Khalid Al-Faisal, when he met with the President and members of the Makkah Chamber recently.
According to board member Ahmed Abdulaziz Sindi, the project for exhibition activities includes administrative offices, occupies an area of 3,000 square meters, and contributes to advancing development and promoting local investments, and provides the holy capital with a suitable location for commercial activities, especially specialized exhibitions that lack a suitable location for them in Makkah.
Sindi said that HH The Amir pointed out that the design of the building should be consistent with the design of the main building, which had won the Makkah Excellence Award. He pointed out that the building will meet Makkah's need for a site for exhibitions and open spaces of medium size in light of the increasing need at the present time for such a building, especially in light of the increasing movement in Makkah's urban development projects, such as the development of informal settlements, train stations, expansions of the Holy Mosque, King Abdulaziz Parallel Road, and urban expansion plans such as the Gate and Crown Prince plans, as well as the acute shortage of administrative business facilities within Mecca, high prices and difficulty in providing parking lots within urban blocks.

Sindi pointed out that the location of the project is compatible with the nature of the functional proposal of the building “exhibitions and administrative”, as it is located in a suburb close to the city, located on the highway to the city of Jeddah, and comes as an extension and complement to the House of Traders and Industrialists in Makkah.
A member of the Board of Directors of the Makkah Chamber explained that the total area of the project is 2566 square meters, and the percentage of the available surface for construction reaches about 65%, and the design principle of the new building was based on its harmony with the composition of the existing building, and to achieve the principle of sustainability that represents the logo of the Chamber, and to become a distinctive sign of the entrance to Makkah, and achieve the principles of sustainability and green architecture.

He summarized the elements of the project in: A main hall, a secondary exhibition hall, hall services - stores - elevators - toilets, hall management, a VIP hall with its services, administrative spaces with its services, a vertical movement battery for administrators and two underground parking lots.

Sindi considered that the most important thing that will distinguish the new building, which forms a view and a scene, came from the ability to develop a design program that deals with ancient Meccan architecture and modernity, in a selected duality of design uniqueness and spatial belonging, and that all of this is present in the creation of a new design language, which can enrich the evidence of the surrounding built environment and add to it a distinctive and striking architectural model that carries unusual artistic formations that give the building a splendor that contributes to seeing its details worked on a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

What is the most important aspect of the new building?
