Interior design is an art, and there are various styles associated with specific countries or eras; and everyone has their own style and approach, opening the door to an endless array of designs and innovations that move away from the traditional and the impressionistic to achieve results that are both different and creative, Interior design encompasses various styles, from which we have selected the most well-known and common ones.

The Classic Style

Classic design is based on balance, harmony, and order; it draws inspiration from the Greek and Roman eras and contains no modern influences from the present day.

The key element of this style is the presence of a specific focal point, around which the rest of the design elements are arranged and distributed to lead the viewer toward that point.

As for the colors used, they include green, dark blue, and yellow, while black is used to highlight important elements in the design.

The most commonly used fabrics in this style are silk and cotton, while the flooring features wood and marble, installed in an elegant, eye-catching manner.

This type of design differs from the traditional style, as the traditional style is much older than the classical style and is more closely tied to customs and traditions.

The Modern Style

The modern style in design was pioneered by a group of German designers who founded the Bauhaus school in 1919. It is characterized by a complete departure from the intricate details found in other designs.

Some may describe it as minimalist due to its use of negative space, and it lacks the desired refinement; however, when executed perfectly, it conveys a sense of calm and simplicity.

The modern style is best suited for office spaces and small apartments because it creates the impression that the room is large and highlights the space through its extreme simplicity. Colors play a limited role in this style, as a single color can serve as the focal point in this design, and one of the advantages of this style is that, due to its extreme simplicity, it can be combined with other designs to produce results of the utmost splendor and beauty.

Contemporary Style

Some people confuse the concept of the contemporary style with the modern style, due to the similarities between the two in many characteristics, This type of design is characterized by spaciousness and comfort; it is suitable for office spaces and small apartments and also relies heavily on clean lines. Lines can be emphasized through bold colors, high ceilings, furniture with square edges, and wooden floors to create a sense of spaciousness.

Minimalist Style

This style is characterized by stripping everything down to the bare essentials. This style is extremely simple and interacts directly with nature, relying on natural light and ventilation as the space’s fundamental elements. It features black and white and uses other colors sparingly.

Art Deco Style

It emerged in the early 20th century as a blend of Cubism and Modernism and has gained immense popularity today because it combines Pharaonic and European (Baroque) in modern and contemporary ways, thereby imparting luxury and elegance to the design.

The lighting in this design is highly focused and includes lighting for ceilings, floors, tables, and walls. The Art Deco style is considered a style for the elite.

Rustic Design Style

This style resembles traditional design with the addition of rustic elements; furnishings are covered with fabric, textiles, or patterns and motifs. This design is a blend of various rustic styles—French, English, American, and Italian styles, incorporating elements from all of these countries.

This style is commonly found in the countryside, in small homes, and in cabins. It is characterized by simplicity with a few beautiful, intricate touches.
