The number of tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries visiting Switzerland reached 200,000, according to a statistical report issued by the Swiss Tourism Board. Saudi Arabia ranked first among the Gulf countries in terms of tourist numbers, followed by the United Arab Emirates and the other Gulf countries, with the total number of Gulf tourists exceeding 200,000—a 23 percent increase compared to 2013.
Average daily spending reached 500 Swiss francs, meaning that tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries rank first in terms of daily tourism spending worldwide.
Tawfiq Malli, the representative of the Swiss Tourism Board in the Arabian Gulf region, explained that tourists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, in particular, love nothing more than taking a drive through Switzerland’s lush green countryside with their entire family, and discovering new trails and attractions. Furthermore, the experience of taking a train tour in Switzerland connects the most beautiful scenic routes through many of its most attractive cities and resorts.
