Launched by the Medina Region Secretariat the pilot phase of a shuttle service between the Prophet’s Mosque, the Quba Mosque, and Sayyid al-Shuhada Square (round-trip) using 100 electric vehicles.
The Secretariat stated that the service constitutes the first phase of individual transportation services and the establishment of a round-the-clock regular transportation system along the roads leading to and from the Prophet’s Mosque Al-Sharif. The first phase involves transporting passengers in vehicles that accommodate between 5 and 7 people, as well as electric buses, as well as a train carrying 60 people, along a route covering Quba Avenue, the central district, and Sayyid al-Shuhada Square. The initiative also aims to increase the number of electric vehicles to 500 regularly operating units over the next six months.
It emphasized that the service is part of ongoing efforts to create suitable investment opportunities, promote the region’s economic development, and provide diverse transportation options for residents and visitors to Madinah.
