The “Dar al-Sunnah” Project in Medina is shaping a new architectural landscape to preserve the urban and cultural fabric

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has charted a new course for Madinah by approving the Darb al-Sunnah project during his historic visit to the city last week,  The project marks a new phase in a series of unique architectural initiatives stretching 3 kilometers from the Prophet’s Mosque to the Quba Mosque area, beginning south of the Prophet’s Mosque and extending to the northern area surrounding the historic Quba Mosque, in addition to developed plots of land featuring a collection of hotels and residential towers.

The project has received personal attention from His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Madinah Region and Chairman of the Madinah Development Authority, as it is a strategic project that shapes the city’s historical, cultural, civilizational, and economic landscape. and prior to its approval, it underwent a series of studies involving various specialized agencies to revive the memory of Madinah’s historic sites.

The project includes the construction of approximately five different plazas and the restoration of a number of old gates in Madinah, in addition to the preservation of green spaces within the project’s scope, The Darb al-Sunnah project and its associated elements are designed to reflect the heritage and historical urban fabric of Madinah.

One of the five plazas will be dedicated to showcasing the cultural heritage for which Madinah is renowned, through the Cultural Plaza, which will house the King Abdulaziz Complex for Endowed Libraries in Madinah.

The project features a high-quality pedestrian walkway through which visitors can discover various details related to the project; its design also takes into account the city’s historic architectural style.
