“The ”Municipal and Rural Affairs” Ministry plans to update the classification of urban service providers

The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing has announced its intention to update the regulations Classification of Urban Service Providers to meet the expectations of the primary beneficiary, with the developmental improvements directly benefiting the contractor.

This announcement came during the participation of Engineer Saleh Al-Zahrani, Director General of the General Administration for Commercial Work Quality at the Ministry, in a workshop organized by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing and the Saudi Council of Engineers to introduce the classification system for urban service providers.

The regulations serve as a benchmark for determining the scope of urban service providers’ operations and their financial, technical, administrative, and operational capabilities, as well as those wishing to apply for and compete on government projects, with the aim of improving the quality of life and promoting the prosperity of cities throughout the Kingdom.

The workshop covered an introduction to the classification system, an explanation of how to apply on the Baladi platform, the technical and financial criteria, and the services of the City Service Providers Classification Portal, revealing that more than 14,000 contractors have been classified, according to the Ministry’s statistics on classified entities.
