The National Committee for Saudi Building Code, in cooperation with the Saudi Institution of Engineers, held an introductory workshop on the ”Methodology of Modernizing the Saudi Building Code System”, in the presence of a number of specialists and interested parties in the building and construction sector.

The workshop was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. <The workshop, which was held in Riyadh, included two tracks to present the Saudi Building Code, where the first track included : Saudi General Code, Construction Code, Energy Conservation Code, Saudi Code for Residential Buildings, Saudi Code for Swimming Pools and Spas, while the second track included: Saudi Electrical Code, Saudi Mechanical Code, Saudi Fire Protection Code, Saudi Existing Building Code, Saudi Green Building Code and Saudi Fuel Gas Code.

Saudi Building Code

The National Committee for Saudi Building Code aims to familiarize specialists and interested parties with the methodology of updating the code system and surveying feedback on the building code system, in addition to identifying the obstacles faced by the relevant authorities to implement the Saudi Building Code during the past implementation period, to keep pace with technical and practical requirements, while reviewing and proposing appropriate solutions and submitting them to the concerned authorities.

The National Committee for Saudi Building Code valued the efforts of the Saudi Building Code, the existing building codes, the Saudi Green Building Code and the Saudi Fuel Gas Code. The committee appreciated the efforts and interaction of the concerned governmental and private entities for their cooperation and constructive interaction to attend and enrich the themes of the workshop, and expressed its hope that these workshops will produce fruitful results that will ultimately reflect on the building and construction sector in the Kingdom.

The workshop was organized to identify the obstacles faced by the relevant authorities in the implementation of the Saudi Building Code during the past implementation period. It is worth mentioning that the National Committee Saudi Building Code plans to present workshops on the methodology of updating the Saudi Building Code system and taking the views of specialists and the public during the coming period in both the Eastern Region in Dammam on the 22nd of this month, and the Western Region in Jeddah on the 2nd of next spring, and invites specialists and interested parties to register to attend these workshops through the National Committee for Saudi Building Code website.
