Oil Park Development Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund and the developer of the .THE RIG project, announced today the launch of the project’s master plan, which represents an ambitious vision that will redefine water sports and adventure tourism, in line with the Public Investment Fund’s strategy and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to contribute to the growth of the tourism sector and, directly and indirectly, to create job opportunities for local talent, attract investment, and achieve economic diversification.
Attracting 900,000 visitors annually
The company’s CEO, Raed Bakhrgi, explained that this unique hospitality and adventure experience will span a construction area of over 300,000 square meters, located 40 km from the coast and near Al-Jareed Island, and the Al-Bari oil field in the Arabian Gulf, noting that the project is expected to attract more than 900,000 visitors annually by 2032, and will appeal to a wide range of local, regional, and international visitors, including thrill-seekers, adventurers, explorers, those seeking balanced vacations, and those looking to relax.
Multiple tourism options
He noted that the project features a wide range of tourism options, including accommodation and entertainment, such as three hotels with a total of 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, an adventure park and thrill sports, a world-class marina, and helipads, while visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of water activities, including a dedicated diving center, as well as an amusement and water park, an e-sports center, an interactive theater, and a multipurpose plaza.
Bakhargi noted that the project’s design draws inspiration from offshore oil platforms, a concept that celebrates the Kingdom’s legacy and rich history in the oil and gas sectors by creating an exceptional and one-of-a-kind entertainment experience, making it a must-visit global tourist destination.
