His Excellency Majid bin Abdullah, Minister of Municipal, Rural, and Housing Affairs and Chairman of the Housing Program Committee Al-Haqil, today in Beijing, with the Minister of Housing and Urban and Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, Ni Hong, ways to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom and China in areas of mutual interest, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to China, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing housing policies and programs, including the exchange of expertise and best practices in the areas of urban planning, sustainable urban development, and investment in construction technology, as well as exploring investment opportunities for the establishment of real estate projects and infrastructure within residential communities.
The two ministers reviewed the most notable success stories in providing housing solutions and options and increasing citizens“ opportunities to own homes, in addition to exchanging expertise in the field of urban management and applying best practices in this regard.
During the meeting, the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing emphasized that what unites the two countries today is a continuation of the Chinese President’s historic visit in December 2022 and the agreements signed between the two sides, especially since our leaders are in complete agreement on the importance of strengthening the partnership and aligning the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 with the Belt and Road Initiative, which will positively reflect on the aspirations and global economic standing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China.
He said: ”We are working to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including urban development and attracting the best Chinese construction companies to benefit from their expertise in developing residential units across the Kingdom, with the aim of achieving the objectives of the Housing Program —one of the programs under Saudi Vision 2030—by providing citizens with diverse housing and financing options,” while praising China’s experience in this field.“
For his part, the Chinese Minister of Housing, Urban and Rural Development emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed his country’s commitment to sharing the Chinese experience—which has helped them build and complete housing projects—with the Kingdom, noting that China has leveraged its advanced capabilities in modern construction solutions and cutting-edge technologies for urban development and management, praising the level of bilateral relations between the two countries and their aspiration for further coordination and cooperation in the coming phase to achieve sustainable development goals in all vital areas.
It is worth noting that His Excellency the Minister of Municipal, Rural, and Housing Affairs, has begun an official visit to the Chinese capital, Beijing, during which he will meet with a number of senior Chinese government officials and heads of Chinese construction companies and banks, with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the Kingdom and China in the construction and building sectors and attracting the world’s leading real estate development companies. His Excellency will also witness the signing of agreements between the ”National Housing Company” and a group of Chinese companies to build a number of large-scale residential projects in the Kingdom, with the aim of providing more housing units and financing solutions.
