The Eastern Province Municipality launched a campaign to monitor old, abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the central area of Dammam, which is located on an area of more than one million and 150 thousand square meters, in continuation of its efforts to address visual distortion and improve the urban landscape in the region.
The Municipality indicated that the campaign will be carried out in phases, including the first phase; counting and identifying buildings and studying them by the committee, and in the second phase, warning and notifying the owners of the need to review the municipality and complete all legal procedures. The campaign will be carried out in several stages, including the first stage; the first stage includes inventorying and identifying the buildings and studying them by the committee, in the second stage the owners will be warned and notified of the need to review the municipality and finalize all legal procedures regarding their removal or treatment according to the technical and engineering reports recommended by the committee, and in the third stage all services will be disconnected on the targeted buildings in preparation for their removal.
The Secretariat confirmed that the campaign will be carried out in several stages. Eastern Municipality confirmed the continuation of the committee to monitor and remove abandoned and dilapidated buildings, as they are considered an uncivilized sight, a danger to residents and passers-by, a place for the gathering of epidemics and insects, in addition to other risks and their impact on the environment, calling on the owners of previously monitored and notified buildings to quickly review the municipality, and report any abandoned or dilapidated buildings through the communications center (940) to be treated by the competent authorities.
This campaign comes within the framework of the 940 reporting center to be treated by the competent authorities. This campaign is part of the work of the General Committee for Building Follow-up, which is composed of several government agencies represented by the Emirate of the Eastern Province, the Eastern Province Municipality (Central Dammam Municipality), Eastern Province Police, Saudi Electricity Company, Tourism Authority, Civil Defense, National Water Company, and Saudi Telecom Company.
