The Bahja Project: Creation and activation of 474 parks and implementation of 568 urban interventions by the end of the first quarter of 2024

The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing revealed that it has completed the construction and activation of 474 parks and carried out 568 urban interventions, including streets and public spaces, as part of “Bahja” project in various regions of the Kingdom, from the project’s launch early last year through the end of the first quarter of 2024, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to improve the quality of life in Saudi cities by developing parks and urban interventions in residential areas and increasing the per capita share of public spaces and areas.

The Ministry clarified in a press release issued today that, through regional municipalities, the project completed the construction of 64 parks and 21 urban interventions during the first quarter of this year, as part of ongoing efforts to achieve the project’s goals of enabling residents to access parks within a 800-meter radius.

The ministry noted that over the past year, the project completed 410 parks with a total area of 5.6 million square meters and implemented 547 urban interventions during the same period, covering a total area exceeding 1 million square meters, as part of efforts to create a revitalized and sustainable urban environment that promotes health and happiness and gives residents the opportunity to enjoy green spaces and open areas.

It is worth noting that through the launch of the “Bahja” project, to complete the construction of 7,000 parks and 1,500 urban interventions across the Kingdom’s regions by 2030, and to develop public spaces with cultural, social, sports, and recreational features, to maximize the use of open spaces by transforming them into vibrant areas focused on providing quality services to individuals and investors, thereby contributing to making three Saudi cities among the top 100 most livable cities in the world.
