Saudi GigaProjects 2024 showcases future developments and investment opportunities

The Saudi Giga Projects 2024, which brings together government agencies, developers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and industry leaders to explore transformative projects aimed at supporting the economy, and achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The event is organized by “MID” and ”Inso Event Solutions” at the Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Apartments on Monday and Tuesday.

The first day’s program featured a number of keynote speeches and panel discussions presented by more than 30 speakers, who highlighted the latest trends, technologies, and investment opportunities within the Kingdom’s Giga Projects network, The event brought together more than 450 decision-makers from over 150 companies operating in the construction sector to gain an in-depth understanding of a diverse range of mega-projects currently underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These projects, with a total value of US$880 billion according to the latest statistics from “MEED,” span the tourism, residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to economic diversification.

Speakers at the opening session, held alongside the exhibition, included Dr. Fahad bin Mushait, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Investment Company (Asfar), Mohammed Saad, Chairman of Diriyah Development Company; Giles Pendleton, CEO of “The Line”; and Osama Qabbani, Chief Development Officer at Roshen Group. Engineer Salman Al-Jubais, Executive Director of Construction Management at New Al-Murabba“ Development Company, discussed the project’s development phases, rising labor costs, and supply chain management, while emphasizing the importance of sustainability throughout all construction phases. Mohammed Saad, President of Diriyah Development Company, added: ”Many consulting firms and contractors come to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia almost daily, across the supply chain, hoping that the market will provide what we need and bridge the gap as much as possible.“

Meanwhile, Giles Pendleton, CEO of ”The Line," noted that: ”Good contractors are always busy, which is a challenge—but a good one, because this is what helps generate more opportunities in the Kingdom and develop its industrial base. At the same time, there is plenty of land, cheap energy, and a skilled workforce—the ideal combination for the supply chain—which contributes to further industrialization in the Kingdom.“

Attendees also heard in-depth insights on major Saudi projects from the Riyadh Region Secretariat, Trojena, New Square Company, Diriyah Development Company, King Salman Park, Sports Boulevard, Red Sea International Company, and others. The sessions also addressed the opportunities and challenges faced by developers and contractors in the successful implementation of project programs, Saudi Giga Projects 2024 succeeded in serving as a platform for networking and collaboration to forge partnerships and explore the immense potential of the project market in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
