The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, announced the start of implementation of the decision to Saudize engineering professions at a rate of 25%, effective July 21, 2024. The Saudization rates will apply to private-sector establishments employing five or more workers in engineering professions.
This decision is part of the two ministries“ efforts aimed at providing more stimulating and productive job opportunities for male and female citizens across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing stated that it will work to monitor and implement this decision, which raises the level of participation in the labor market, and that ”Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing" will oversee its implementation in line with labor market requirements and the specializations of engineering professions.
The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing also confirmed that private-sector entities will benefit from incentives and support programs provided by the Human Resources and Social Development system to assist them in hiring Saudis, including: support for the recruitment process and the search for suitable employees; support for necessary training and qualification; support for the hiring process and job retention; as well as priority access to all Saudization support programs available through the system, as well as support and employment programs through the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf).
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has published a procedural guide on its website detailing the requirements for Saudization, occupations, and the required quotas, emphasizing the need for establishments to comply with and adhere to these provisions, to avoid regulatory penalties that will be imposed on violators.
