Last July, the Saudi market saw a significant increase in the prices of many construction materials, including rebar, wire, and electrical cables, while lumber prices varied, with a decline in one type.
According to the bulletin on average prices of goods and services issued by the Statistics Authority, the price of rebar of various types rose. The price of rebar (6 mm) rose by 0.7% to 3,925.74 riyals per metric ton, while rebar (8 mm) increased by 0.9% to 2,792.01 riyals per metric ton. As for rebar (10 mm), it rose by 0.5% to reach 2,834.76 riyals per metric ton. Rebar (12 mm) also saw a 1.1% increase, reaching 2,716.82 riyals per metric ton, while the price of rebar (14 mm) rose by the same percentage to 2,717.42 riyals per metric ton.
As for larger-diameter rebar, the price of 16 mm rebar rose by 1% to 2,715.7 riyals per metric ton, and 18 mm rebar recorded a 0.9% increase, reaching 2,715.3 riyals per metric ton.
Electrical Wires and Cables
On the other hand, prices for electrical wires and cables saw varying increases. The price of electrical wires (2.5 mm) rose by 2.6% to 1.2 riyals per meter, while the price of electrical wires (4 mm) rose by 1.8% to 1.73 riyals per meter. The price of electrical wire (6 mm) also rose by 1.5% to 2.68 riyals per meter.
As for electrical cables, the price of 10-mm cables reached 22.51 riyals per meter, an increase of 1.5% on a monthly basis. The (25 mm) cable category rose by 2% to reach 48.99 riyals per meter, while the price of (35 mm) cables reached 63.63 riyals per meter, up 1.3%. The price of 50 mm cables rose by 2.9% to 90 riyals per meter, and the 70 mm category recorded a 2.4% increase, reaching 128.78 riyals per meter. The 95 mm category recorded an increase of 0.9%, reaching 177.38 riyals per meter, while the 120 mm category rose by 1.6% to 222.8 riyals per meter. As for electrical cables in the (300 mm) category, their price rose by 0.6% to reach 536.27 riyals per meter.
In the metals sector, aluminum (Saudi-made coils) rose by 0.4% to 86.69 riyals per unit of measurement (5.8 m).
Lumber Prices
As for lumber, Chilean wood rose by 0.5% to 1,537.58 riyals per cubic meter, while Romanian wood increased by 0.3% to 1,530.62 riyals per cubic meter. African teak also saw a slight increase of 0.2%, reaching 6,143.57 riyals per cubic meter. In contrast, the price of Indonesian Ablakash wood fell by 0.9% to 3,240.9 riyals.
