The development efforts currently underway in the tourism sector in the region of Medina in recent times have resulted in a rise in the number of travelers coming from various countries around the world for visits and tourism, thanks to the facilities provided by the relevant authorities to tourists across various service sectors.
Medina ranked 88th globally on the list of the top 100 global tourist destinations for 2024, as announced by “YouMonitor International,” a leader in research and data analysis, placing it at the top among Saudi cities, fifth in the Gulf region, sixth in the Arab world, and seventh in the Middle East.
The organization’s assessment is based on 55 metrics across six key pillars, including economic performance, trade, tourism performance, infrastructure, tourism policies, and attractiveness, health, safety, and sustainability. The assessment provides a comprehensive analysis of each city’s attractiveness, offering authorities
and all interested parties and tourists worldwide insight into urban tourism and business strategies.
This achievement builds on the growth achieved by the tourism sector in the Madinah region during the past year, 2023, which welcomed 14.1 million visitors, amid programs and initiatives aimed at revitalizing the tourism sector and enhancing the quality of services provided to visitors throughout the year, in addition to efforts to improve services in the housing, transportation, and healthcare, as well as the implementation of technical measures and initiatives that enrich the visitor experience and facilitate access via various air hubs. This has contributed to the growth of tourism in Madinah during the current year and the prospects for its sustainability in the coming period.
