The Committee on Hajj, Housing, and Services is expected to present its recommendations on the Ministry of Housing’s annual report for fiscal year 1434 / 1435 AH, for a vote by the Shura Council during its 53rd regular session, to be held next Monday. The most important recommendations call on the Ministry of Housing to present its temporal, spatial, and urban plans for providing housing units to citizens, The recommendations also include streamlining waiting lists on the Ministry of Housing’s portal to expedite lending to those wishing to purchase housing units from the private sector, and allocating funds from the approved budget for this purpose.

In another recommendation, the committee called on the Ministry of Housing to coordinate with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and relevant authorities to develop flexible urban designs aimed at increasing population density in major cities where suitable land for housing projects is not available. The committee also called on the ministry to address the shortage of personnel by filling its vacant positions and to collaborate with the private sector to secure the specialized expertise it requires.
