Head of the Land Registry: We use modern technologies to create a real estate map of 8.2 million properties

Dr. Mohammed Al-Sulaiman, CEO of the Land Registry, announced the success of the Land Registry in carrying out cadastral work for more than 22,000 square kilometers of the Kingdom's area, as part of the first real estate registration project.

Dr. <Sulaiman explained that the Land Registry relied on modern technologies, including drones and manned aircraft, to obtain high-precision cadastral data down to the centimeter level. This achievement is part of the Kingdom's largest geospatial survey project, which aims to create a national real estate data map that includes information on more than 8.2 million properties.

The remarks came during Dr. Al-Sulaiman's speech at the opening of the Esri User Conference, which was held in Riyadh on January 21 and 22, 2024. The conference was attended by a number of prominent figures, including Dr. Eng. Mohammed bin Yahya Al Sayel, CEO of the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, Dr. Talal bin Abdullah Al-Huraiqi, CEO of the Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve Development Authority, and Esri President Jack Dangermond.

During his participation, Dr. Al-Sulaiman reviewed Esri's user conference. <During his participation, Dr. Al Sulaiman reviewed the most prominent developments in the work of the Real Estate Registry, where he explained that the number of declared properties exceeded two million properties distributed across five administrative regions. He also revealed that more than 50,000 real estate transactions have been carried out through the digital real estate registry platform. He pointed out that geospatial is a key element in the success of real estate registration, explaining that the Real Estate Registry attaches great importance to applying the latest global and local technologies and standards in this field.

Sulaiman added that the number of declared properties exceeded two million properties in five administrative regions. <Sulaiman added that the Land Registry cooperates with more than 65 entities in the public and private sectors and applies more than 20 local and international standards to ensure data quality. The geospatial survey project covers 100,000 square kilometers of urban areas, in addition to two million square kilometers of non-urban areas, and collects more than 19 petabytes of data to form a comprehensive national real estate map. <Sulaiman explained that the use of drones and manned aircraft helped in collecting accurate data and improving the operational efficiency of the project. He also pointed to the use of software such as ArcGIS Pro to analyze data and produce interactive maps, which contributes to improving urban planning and land management processes.
