The Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing revealed the details of the new contractor classification system after its approval by the “Council of Ministers”, which aims to enhance competitiveness in the implementation of projects.
Majid Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, commented on the occasion of its approval by the Council of Ministers, saying: “I extend my sincere thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince on the occasion of the Council of Ministers” approval of the contractor classification system, which is based on a balanced evaluation combining quantitative and qualitative criteria, to enhance competition among contractors and give new contractors with distinguished competencies greater opportunities."

While the ministry explained that the new contractor rating system is based on technical evaluation, which includes: "the technical specialties of the establishment's employees according to the sector, and the years of experience of the establishment's cadres.“

Municipal Affairs added: The technical assessment includes: "the level of wages for workers, the percentage of localization, and the percentage of Saudi women working in the establishment.“

The credit assessment is based on "administrative governance, risk management, sources of income, fixed and variable assets of the facility, publication of periodic performance reports.“

The ministry stated that the new rating system targets 7 sectors, namely: "construction and building, operation, maintenance and services, communications and information technology, real estate development, exhibitions and conferences, engineering consultancy, and food and catering."
