The hospitality sector in Makkah witnessed exceptional growth, with the number of licensed facilities exceeding 1,000 by the end of 2024, marking an increase of 801,000 compared to 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This significant growth reinforces the Holy City's position as the leading city in the Kingdom in terms of the number of licensed facilities and rooms, contributing to improved services for pilgrims.
Ongoing inspection tours to ensure quality
Hospitality facilities in Mecca are subject to close monitoring by the Ministry of Tourism's inspection teams, which conduct regular inspection tours to ensure establishments comply with licensing requirements and approved standards. Violations are identified and penalties are applied according to regulations, all in an effort to achieve the highest quality of services provided to visitors and pilgrims.
The “Our Guests Are Our Priority” campaign: A step towards improving the hospitality experience
This expansion in licensing comes as part of efforts to support the “Our Guests Are Our Priority” campaign, which aims to raise the quality of tourism services and ensure facilities comply with regulations. This initiative is part of the Kingdom’s tourism sector development strategy, which seeks to improve the visitor experience and enhance the level of hospitality in the Holy City, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
