The project, which is supervised by The Sports Track Foundation and chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is one of the major projects aimed at making Riyadh a more vibrant city, aligned with healthy lifestyles, within the targets of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

The project was launched under the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on March 19, 2019, as part of major projects that aim to improve the quality of life in Riyadh and promote healthy lifestyles by creating an integrated sports environment that suits the needs of all segments of society, and the project receives follow-up and attention from His Highness the Crown Prince - may God protect him - to ensure the achievement of its goals according to the highest standards.
The 135-kilometer-long path connects western and eastern Riyadh through a network of walking, running and cycling paths, along with a range of integrated facilities that provide visitors with an integrated sports and entertainment experience.
The first phase of the path will be distributed across the city of Riyadh. The 83-kilometer first phase of the project is spread across five main destinations. The Wadi Hanifa destination includes 13.4 kilometers of trails in a natural environment, while the 4-kilometer Promenade destination provides an ideal environment for cycling and walking enthusiasts, along with open recreational spaces for families. The two destinations are connected by the Bicycle Bridge, which extends over the intersection of King Khalid Road and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, allowing safe and sustainable movement between the different locations.

The project is also home to the Arts Tower, located at the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road and Prince Turki I Road, and features a design inspired by old electricity towers, which adds an artistic and architectural dimension and is a landmark on the sports track.The project also includes an indoor track (inner track), which is located at the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road and Prince Turki I Road, with a design inspired by old electricity towers. The Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) indoor track, which extends 20 kilometers, provides an integrated sports environment within the campus and facilitates sustainable mobility by bicycle or walking between university facilities and buildings, while the Sands Sports Park, located southeast of King Khalid International Airport, attracts mountain biking, equestrian and running enthusiasts, with more than 45 km of trails.

With the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, the track has become a favorite choice for many residents and visitors to the capital to exercise and enjoy the open atmosphere after iftar, and it witnesses various sports and social events, including bicycle and running races as well as sports and entertainment activities that enhance the visitors" experience and contribute to promoting a culture of fitness in the community.
With the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, the track has become a favorite choice for many residents and visitors who head to it to exercise and enjoy the open atmosphere after iftar. The various destinations within the project provide integrated services including bicycle rental stations, healthy food and beverage outlets, restroom facilities, and bicycle maintenance points that contribute to enhancing the visitor experience, especially during Ramadan evenings, which witness an increasing number of visitors after iftar.
<The opening of the first phase of the project confirms the commitment of Al Masar Sports Foundation to develop sustainable urban facilities that contribute to enhancing the quality of life, raising the global ranking of Riyadh, and realizing a future vision that makes Riyadh a modern sports city that supports various age groups. As work continues to complete the remaining phases of the project, the Sports Track is expected to become a major attraction throughout the year, combining sports, entertainment and nature in a modern environment that meets the aspirations of the capital's residents and visitors.
