the Jeddah Provincial Municipality announced the opening of the road connecting the road network within the Riyadh Master Plan and the area west of the Haramain Railway, extending south to Asfan Road, following the completion of paving work as part of the project to rehabilitate streets in central and northern Jeddah (Construction of the Road West of the Riyadh Master Plan), as part of the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and improve the quality of life in the city of Jeddah.
The project—whose implementation is overseen by the General Administration of Roads and Bridges—aims to strengthen the connectivity of modern residential neighborhoods with vital road networks by constructing a road between the flood channel and the Haramain Railway line, and completing the construction of the bridge approaching from the east and crossing over the railroad tracks, in addition to backfilling and concrete slope protection works, and the construction of a box culvert beneath the new road to ensure the smooth flow of floodwater, as well as the construction of three traffic intersections equipped with safety features such as speed bumps, audible warning devices, and warning signs.
The project phases include excavation and backfilling, pavement layers, concrete curbs and barriers, as well as traffic signs, lighting and electrical work, and the construction of the stormwater culvert and its concrete protective structures.
This project contributes to achieving the objectives of the Quality of Life Program—one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030—by improving the efficiency of road networks and enhancing traffic safety, as well as reducing travel times between neighborhoods and connecting them to major transportation hubs; this positively impacts residents’ quality of life and supports sustainable urban development in the province.
The project is part of the Jeddah Municipality’s efforts to improve the efficiency of municipal services and facilitate mobility, thereby enhancing the city’s status as a modern urban center that meets the needs of its residents, and contributes to improving the urban landscape and quality of life for citizens and residents alike.
