Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region and Chairman of the Asir Region Development Authority, revealed during his opening remarks at the second edition of the Asir Investment Forum that the volume of new investment inflows into the region exceeds 4 billion riyals (1.06 billion dollars), spanning various sectors and projects, with details to be announced during the event. He emphasized that since the adoption of the Asir Strategy, investments exceeding 5 billion riyals (1.33 billion dollars) have been secured and are currently being implemented in accordance with the strategy.
The forum, which kicked off this morning at King Khalid University’s Al-Far’a campus in Abha, is being held under the slogan “Asir is Thriving… Invest Now,“ with the participation of a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, senior officials, investors, and experts from within and outside the Kingdom. This is part of the Asir Region Development Authority’s efforts to strengthen the region’s position as a leading investment destination, In its second edition, the event brings together 1,500 guests, including leaders from development sectors, investors, and decision-makers, to discuss ways to develop the region’s investment environment and integrate government and private-sector efforts to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
His Excellency Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce, will participate in the forum with a keynote address reviewing the performance of the commercial sector in the Asir region, the Ministry’s role in facilitating the investor journey and stimulating the business environment, as well as highlighting the role of chambers of commerce in supporting growth across various regions.
The forum will also feature a presentation by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Al-Qweiz, Chairman of the Capital Market Authority, on empowering promising regions through financial markets and the financing mechanisms available to investors, as well as a review of legislative and regulatory developments aimed at stimulating the national economy.
The forum includes five main sessions discussing the key features of the investment environment in the Asir region and the opportunities available in the sectors of: tourism, technology, infrastructure, and the creative economy, in addition to reviewing the role of the Public Investment Fund in supporting development through its high-impact projects and the participation of its subsidiaries in accelerating growth and promoting sustainability.
Among the forum’s highlights is the announcement of the launch of “Qumum Al-Sarata” as an investment arm to support land development projects and streamline regulatory procedures for investors, The forum will also feature the unveiling of a number of high-quality projects being showcased for the first time, which are expected to contribute to strengthening Sir’s position on the national and international economic landscape.
The forum will feature a number of specialized workshops addressing topics such as tourism financing, investor empowerment, legislative improvements, and the review of investment opportunities, The events will also be accompanied by an exhibition featuring a variety of projects and a dedicated area for supporting organizations, and a number of agreements and partnerships between the public and private sectors are expected to be signed.
Now in its second edition, the forum reaffirms the Asir region’s commitment to achieving a comprehensive development renaissance, based on the equitable distribution of investment opportunities among the provinces and the promotion of the region’s environmental and cultural character, and the integration of government and community efforts to build a comprehensive and sustainable investment model.
