The executive rules of the Municipal Violations Penalties Regulation, approved by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, set controls and a general framework to confront violations, which are categorized into serious and non-serious, while adjusting the mechanisms of monitoring, assessment and fines, in order to contribute to raising the efficiency of compliance in various cities of the Kingdom.
Approval of the Penalty Regulation for Municipal Violations
<The rules of the Sanctions Regulation for Municipal Violations stipulate a number of penalties for violators and places of encroachment, where municipal secretariats can seize vehicles or tools abandoned in public places and sell them at public auction, as well as they can take measures to disconnect electrical service to sites that do not respond to correcting serious encroachments.The regulation includes other penalties for violators, in addition to disconnecting electricity or impounding vehicles, including: Fines, temporary closure, and revocation of licenses, with an automatic progression of penalties upon repetition, and financial penalties are calculated according to the type of violation, which may reach two million riyals in some serious violations, and one million riyals in other violations.
Violations are monitored and recorded through electronic monitoring means through Momtabaat and Evaah, and perpetrators of non-serious violations are given a period of time to correct the situation before the penalty is imposed.
