Details of the Central Jeddah Project

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the Central Jeddah project in 2021, which aims to transform the city of Jeddah into a global tourist destination, and the project comes on an area of 5.7 million square meters, and a sandy beach of 2.1 kilometers, and the project is planned to include about 17 thousand residential units, and 2700 hotel rooms, in addition to commercial areas, administrative offices, shops, and malls.

The Central Jeddah Project consists of 3 phases, ending after 2030. The first phase includes 45% of the project area, and focuses on the construction of major landmarks (Opera House, Stadium, Aquarium), in addition to a public beach and marina, and is scheduled to end in 2027.

The second phase of the project consists of 3 phases, ending after 2030. The second phase of the Downtown Jeddah project covers 36% of the project area and focuses on creating a vibrant cultural and educational environment, including a museum, library and innovative educational facilities. The third phase of the project covers 19% of the project area and aims to enhance the quality of life by creating an art village and green corridors.

In February 2024, construction contracts worth 12 billion riyals were signed for the construction of three major landmarks within the first phase, namely the stadium, the opera, the docks and basic facilities, and reports indicate that the project will add about 50 billion riyals to Saudi GDP, in addition to creating thousands of job opportunities.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
