His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Eastern Province, today sponsored the signing of the agreement for the development of the “Ajdan Island” tourism project on Al Khobar Corniche, in partnership between the Tourism Development Fund, the Eastern Province Municipality and Ajdan Real Estate Development for a total value of more than 300 million riyals, in the presence of HE Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Fund Mr. Ahmed bin Aqeel Al Khatib and a number of officials.

His Royal Highness the Emir of the Eastern Province HH the Emir of the Eastern Province praised the great support and attention given to tourism in the Kingdom by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which contributed to enhancing the status of the tourism sector and its role in national development, pointing to the importance of cooperation between the relevant authorities and unifying efforts to develop tourism projects and raise the quality of services, in order to enhance the development of the region and invest its tourism assets to support the national economy and create job opportunities for the sons and daughters of the region.

His Excellency the Secretary of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahad Al Jubeir, emphasized that this project is one of the investment projects with the Municipality of the region and will have a great and direct impact on tourism in order to create job opportunities, and this distinguished project will be added to the tourist destinations in Al Khobar Governorate.
The CEO of the Tourism Development Fund, Qusay bin Abdullah Al Fakhri, expressed the Fund's pride in the existing partnership in the project, stressing that the development of waterfronts and the revitalization of national landmarks contribute to improving the quality of life and attracting more tourism investments. He explained that the “Ajdan Island” project represents a model of cooperation between the public and private sectors, an ongoing support for the efforts of the tourism system to enable new destinations that meet the aspirations of residents and visitors, and confirms the Fund's commitment to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in diversifying the economy and increasing the contribution of tourism to GDP.
The project aims to develop the Khobar Water Tower area into an integrated tourist destination that includes world-class restaurants, cafes with sea views, entertainment spaces and an integrated commercial area, in addition to a restaurant with a panoramic view of the city of Khobar, with a total value of more than 300 million riyals; to enhance the Fund's portfolio of projects in the Eastern Province, which exceeded 12.7 billion riyals.

The project aims to develop the Khobar Water Tower area to become an integrated tourist destination.
