His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Eastern Province, inaugurated today The International City project in Dammam, which is one of the quality investment projects in the fields of tourism, entertainment and culture, in the presence of HE the Governor of the region, Engineer Fahad bin Mohammed Al Jubeir, a number of officials and leaders, and investors of the project from the Kingdom of Thailand, during his field tour of the project components and its various facilities.

His Highness was briefed on the components of the project and its various facilities. For his part, HE Al Jubeir thanked HH the Emir of the Eastern Province for inaugurating this project, stressing that “International City” is a qualitative addition to the tourism and entertainment system in the region, and contributes to enhancing the status of Dammam as an attractive destination for investment and entertainment, and supports the growing economic movement.

He explained that the project comes with a strategic location, advanced infrastructure and a variety of investment opportunities. He explained that the project comes within the directions of urban development aimed at involving the private sector in the development of quality projects and attracting local, Gulf and international investors, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the Eastern Province and raise the efficiency of tourism and recreational services, taking advantage of its geographical location and the remarkable development achieved in the quality of life indicators.

The project extends over a total area of more than 650,000 square meters, while the first phase was built on an area of about 250,000 square meters, and 15 international pavilions representing countries from the Arabian Gulf, Asia, Europe and Africa have been completed, bringing the total number of participating countries to 16 countries distributed in areas that reflect their diverse cultures.

The project includes a central artificial lake with an area of about (200) thousand square meters that is a hub for tourism and entertainment activities, a floating market, an open theater with a capacity of about (7,000) visitors with the possibility of increasing the capacity to (10,000) visitors, a modern amusement park with an area of about (15) thousand square meters, a range of restaurants, cafes, various markets, and pedestrian paths to enhance the visitor experience.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) in addition to a modern amusement park with an area of approximately (15,000 square meters). The first phase focuses on entertainment and festival areas, including 16 international pavilions, 11 restaurants offering a mix of Arabic, Asian and international cuisine, as well as thematic neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Indian Alley, Central Food Street, carnival games, electronic skills games, live shows, a small zoo, and a garden of lights.

The second phase of the project includes an integrated infrastructure that includes three main gates, and parking for more than 3,000 vehicles, ensuring access to the project. The second phase includes expansion with new pavilions, exhibition areas and various restaurants, in addition to the establishment of an integrated water park with water slides, wave pools and calm rivers suitable for all ages, while the third phase culminates in the establishment of the Global Amphitheater as an integrated complex for exhibitions and entertainment events supported by the latest display technologies, in addition to the development of an integrated modern residential neighborhood that contributes to the long-term sustainability of the project.

The project is a major milestone in the development of the project. The International City project is an important economic and tourism tributary for the Eastern Province, as it represents a qualitative addition that enhances the status of Dammam as a prominent urban and tourist destination in the Arabian Gulf, with expectations of attracting about (25) thousand visitors per day after the completion of all its facilities, in addition to its contribution to stimulating economic movement and providing quality job opportunities.
