Announced Expo 2030 Riyadh announced the award of the main contract for the infrastructure and utilities works at the Expo 2030 Riyadh Nesma Group and their partners, in a move that accelerates the pace of implementation of the project and marks a major milestone in the transition from the planning and preliminary work to the actual large-scale implementation at the exhibition site.
The infrastructure and utilities works aim to prepare the Expo 2030 Riyadh site for subsequent phases of construction and development, and support the operational requirements of the exhibition. The scope of the works includes the construction of internal site roads and the implementation of major utility and infrastructure networks that form the basic infrastructure of the project.
This phase includes the implementation of up to 50 kilometers of infrastructure networks and essential services, including water and sewage networks, electrical systems, electric vehicle charging stations, and telecommunications networks. These works are essential to support the next stages of the project master plan development and enable the first construction works that will shape the experiences that Expo 2030 Riyadh will offer to its visitors.
Talal Al Marri, CEO of Expo 2030 Riyadh, explained that the award of this contract represents a pivotal stage in accelerating the pace of work at the Expo site, noting that the start of the construction of basic infrastructure lays the necessary foundations to ensure an integrated and high-quality implementation in accordance with international best practices, in addition to building a sustainable legacy that extends beyond 2030.
He explained that the contract was awarded ahead of schedule, as part of a phased approach that aims to accelerate the implementation of the project within a progressive approach to the construction of infrastructure, buildings and public spaces during 2026 and early 2027.
For his part, Samer Abdel Samad, CEO of Nesma Group and Partners, expressed his pride in the confidence of Expo 2030 Riyadh, stressing that the project is one of the qualitative projects that require the highest degree of integration and accuracy in implementation, working according to the best standards and practices, to support the vision of Expo 2030 Riyadh and establish a solid base for subsequent phases of development.
