Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of the Makkah Region, called for the preparation of a list of government projects that can be implemented in the Jeddah Governorate with private-sector participation. He also directed that a quarterly report be submitted on the work and achievements, This came during the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the development of the Conference and Events Center, located within the "Heart of Jeddah" project, which was signed by the Jeddah Municipality—represented by the Jeddah Urban Development and Development Company—and the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of representatives from the working group comprising the Center for Development Integration, the Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company, the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Saudi Partnership Fund for Development and Employment.
Al-Faisal added that these major projects represent a positive step forward that will shape the new face of Jeddah, noting that this development agreement is historic for both Jeddah and the Kingdom, as it paves the way for integrated development; its importance will become clear in the future, and it will attract other major projects.
His Highness noted that the city’s development project will achieve goals that go beyond growth and prosperity, as its social, environmental, and economic benefits extend beyond the project’s boundaries. In addition to being located in the city’s proposed new center, the project will revitalize the community by strengthening Jeddah’s position as an investment hub and creating new job opportunities, while also serving as a catalyst for tourism>, as the project’s master plan will provide a variety of commercial and residential uses, complemented by public facilities and services.
