<The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) praised the Kingdom's announcement to rehabilitate one million hectares of land, within the targets of the Saudi Green Initiative.Appreciating its efforts in combating land degradation and restoring ecosystems, and affirming its continued cooperation and partnership with the National Afforestation Program and its readiness to continue supporting these efforts.<The Assistant Director-General and FAO Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, Dr. Abdelhakim El-Waer, explained that this achievement reflects a practical commitment to transform national visions into tangible, measurable and achievable results, congratulating all FAO partners in the Kingdom for achieving this important environmental achievement, led by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, and the National Afforestation Program.Dr. Al-Waer added that the Kingdom continues its efforts within an integrated national path, which began with the launch of the Global Initiative to Reduce Land Degradation Land Degradation, during its presidency of the G20 Summit in 2020, and this path was strengthened through the launch of the Green Saudi and Green Middle East initiatives, making the Kingdom's efforts an effective model in addressing the challenges of land degradation, working to restore ecosystems and preserve and sustain natural resources.
