Rise in Reinforcing Bar Prices Last May

Reinforcing steel prices in Saudi Arabia continued their upward trend throughout May 2026, recording annual and monthly increases across various sizes, according to data from the “Building Materials Prices” report issued by the Saudi Contractors Authority. The report showed that rebar prices rose on a year-over-year basis by rates ranging from 5.65% to 20.33% during May 2026 compared to the same month in 2025.

The price of 6-mm rebar stood at approximately 4,144.19 riyals per metric ton in May 2026, compared to 3,922.65 riyals per metric ton in May 2025, an increase of 5.65%. The price of 8-mm rebar also rose to 3,300.83 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,748.04 riyals per metric ton in May 2025, marking a 20.12% increase.The price of 10-mm rebar reached approximately 3,343.12 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,803.04 riyals per metric ton a year ago, an increase of 19.25%.

As for 12-mm rebar, the price reached 3,274.10 riyals per metric ton in May 2026, compared to 2,722.47 riyals per metric ton during the same period last year. The report noted that the price of 14-mm rebar reached 3,279.69 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,725.55 riyals per metric ton in May 2025, an increase of 20.33%, the highest increase among the sizes included in the report.

The price of 16-mm rebar also rose to 3,278.83 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,727.92 riyals per metric ton a year ago, an increase of 20.20%, while the price of the 18-mm size rose to 3,278.37 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,724.92 riyals per metric ton in May 2025, marking a 20.31% increase.

On a monthly basis, the report confirmed that prices for all types of rebar rose in May 2026 compared to April of the same year, with increases ranging from 1.96% to 14.37%. The price of 6-mm rebar rose to 4,144.19 riyals per metric ton in May, compared to 4,064.37 riyals per metric ton in April, an increase of 1.96%. The price of 8-mm rebar also rose to 3,300.83 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,886.05 riyals per metric ton in April, representing a growth rate of 14.37%.
The price of 10-mm rebar reached approximately 3,343.12 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,944.55 riyals per metric ton in April, an increase of 13.54%.

The 12-mm size recorded a price of 3,274.10 riyals per metric ton in May, compared to 2,914.53 riyals per metric ton in April, a 12.34% increase. The 14-mm size reached 3,279.69 riyals per metric ton in May 2026, compared to 2,927.31 riyals per metric ton in April 2026, an increase of 12.04%.

The price of 16-mm rebar also rose to 3,278.83 riyals per metric ton, compared to 2,926.38 riyals per metric ton in April, an increase of 12.04%. Meanwhile, the price of 18-mm rebar reached 3,278.37 riyals per metric ton in May, compared to 2,923.08 riyals per metric ton in April, marking a 12.15% increase.
