A periodic report of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage revealed that the capacity of accommodation facilities (rooms and suites) in the Kingdom as a whole amounted to 421074 facilities, and the report indicated that the number of hotels reached 1908 hotels, while the number of furnished residential units reached 6690 units, in addition to 1932 travel and tourism agencies, in addition to 365 tour operators.
The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage has implemented its field plan to inventory tourism establishments, including hotels, residential units, travel and tourism agencies and tour operators, in the first half of this year at the level of all regions of the Kingdom as an initial experiment, as the next inventory will include the classifications of all tourism establishments in the country during the second half of this year.
For his part, Dr. Waleed Al-Humaidi, Vice President of the Authority for Regions, said that the results and the report were presented to all sectors of the Authority to take their developmental views, where their responses regarding the report were that it represents the actual reality of tourism facilities in the Kingdom (according to his description).
Dr. Al-Humaidi pointed out that there is data that accurately determines the size of tourism establishments in the Kingdom, which is different from the survey conducted by MAS Center, which includes a sample of those establishments, adding that the MAS Center in the Authority will benefit from the data of the tourism establishments inventory report, explaining that there will be a report for the second half of this year that includes all classifications of tourism establishments such as hotel villas, hotel apartments, road hotels and resorts, as well as eco camps.

The report of the field survey of accommodation facilities in the Kingdom confirmed that the Holy Capital (Makkah) hosts the largest percentage of capacity at the national level with 41%, while less than 1% is the capacity of the northern borders.
