The Al-Qassim Region Secretariat organized a workshop the day before yesterday to discuss the local plans for the city of Buraidah and the region’s provinces, as part of the Al-Qassim Regional Plan project, with the participation of relevant authorities; this is in preparation for completing the necessary procedures to approve the local plans.
The three-day workshops will review the outcomes of the local plans and future planning directions, in addition to discussing a number of topics related to urban growth, land use, road and transportation networks, public services and facilities, and opportunities for urban development and expansion, thereby contributing to the development of an integrated planning vision that meets the region’s needs.
Enhancing Integration Among Plans
Naif bin Abdulrahman Al-Nafei, the official spokesperson for the Al-Qassim Region Secretariat, stated that the workshops represent an important phase in completing the local planning work for the city of Buraidah and the region’s provinces, by discussing planning outcomes and directions and aligning them with the objectives and directions of the Al-Qassim Regional Plan, thereby enhancing integration among plans and improving the efficiency of urban planning, He noted that the workshops explore opportunities for future urban growth and expansion, as well as the integration of road networks, transportation, services, and public facilities with the region’s development directions, thereby supporting the steering of urban development in a more efficient and sustainable manner.
These efforts are part of the Al-Qassim Region Secretariat’s work to complete the region’s urban planning system and develop integrated local plans that meet current and future development needs, and to support the harmonization of planning visions and approaches between the city of Buraidah and the region’s provinces, paving the way for the completion of the approval process.
