Marsa'a's contracting projects totaled 9.8 billion riyals last July

The awarding of 11 projects in July brought the total value of contracts since the beginning of 2026 to 111.3 billion riyals, led by the construction sector and Riyadh.

The the Saudi construction sector continues to see a steady flow of new projects, with 11 projects awarded in July 2026 with a total value of approximately 9.75 billion riyals, adding a new wave to the volume of work available in the market and pushing the total value of projects awarded since the beginning of the year to over 111 billion riyals, according to the report «A Look at the Construction Sector for July" published by the Saudi Contractors Authority.

According to the report, the projects awarded in July will span three years, with three projects worth more than 2.79 billion riyals expected to be completed by 2028, and five projects with a total value exceeding 5 billion riyals in 2029, while three other projects worth over 1.51 billion riyals are expected to be completed in 2030.

97 projects since the beginning of the year
July’s figures reflect continued activity in the Saudi projects market, with a total of 97 projects awarded from January through the end of July, with a combined value exceeding 111.3 billion riyals. The pace of awards varied over the first seven months of the year; in January, five projects worth 11.74 billion riyals were awarded, while February saw four projects worth 2.81 billion riyals awarded.

March saw 11 projects awarded, valued at 15.66 billion riyals, before the number of projects rose in April to 23, valued at 11.81 billion riyals.
May saw a notable jump in the value of projects, with 18 projects awarded totaling 30.04 billion riyals, while June maintained a high level of activity with 25 projects worth 29.50 billion riyals, before the number and value of projects declined in July to 11 projects worth 9.75 billion riyals.

Construction Accounts for Two-Thirds of July’s Awarded Value
Activity in July was primarily concentrated in the construction sector, which accounted for 67.6% of the total value of projects awarded during the month.
The value of projects in the construction sector reached 6.59 billion riyals, distributed across seven projects, placing the sector in first place by a clear margin over the other sectors.
The infrastructure sector ranked second with three projects worth approximately 2.79 billion riyals, equivalent to 28.6% of the total value of contracts awarded during the month. As for the water and energy sector, it saw the awarding of a single project worth approximately 375 million riyals, representing 3.9% of the total value of projects awarded in July.

Riyadh Takes the Largest Share
Geographically, the Riyadh region led the Kingdom’s regions in terms of the value of projects awarded in July, securing seven projects with a total value of 7.5 billion riyals.
The Ha’il region ranked second with three projects worth 1.88 billion riyals, while the Eastern Province came in third with a single project worth approximately 375 million riyals.
Thus, the majority of the value of new projects during the month was concentrated in Riyadh, with a smaller share going to both Ha’il and the Eastern Province.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City Tops the List of Project Awardees
In terms of project awardees, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City topped the list of the largest project owners for projects awarded in July in terms of value, with a total of 2.79 billion riyals spread across three projects.

»Cluster 2" came in second place with a value of 1.88 billion riyals across three projects, while the Diriyah Gate Development Authority and the Public Investment Fund tied for third place with a combined total of approximately 1.16 billion riyals across two projects.
Madad Real Estate Investment and Development recorded contract awards totaling approximately 1.04 billion riyals through a single project, while Al-Qiddiya Investment Company ranked fifth with a value of nearly 750 million riyals for a single project.

11 Projects Expected to Be Awarded in August
Looking ahead to next month, the Saudi Contractors Authority report expects 11 new projects to be awarded to contractors in August 2026, with more than 70% of these projects concentrated in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
About half of the projects expected to be awarded this month are projected to be concentrated in the Eastern Province and the Makkah Region, indicating continued geographic diversification of the sector’s activity in the coming period.

The list of entities expected to launch projects in August includes the National Housing Company, Retal Urban Development Company, Dar & Emaar Real Estate Investment and Development Company, as well as Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Water Authority, Al-Omar Investment Company, and Thabat Al-Maskan Real Estate Company.
