With the participation of more than 550 exhibitors from 42 countries and 14 international pavilions, the fourth edition of the Saudi Health Exhibition and Conference 2016—the leading event in the health sector—concluded with great success. The event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, and organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company in collaboration with Informa, after attracting heavy attendance and significant interest from decision-makers and specialists in the fields of medicine and healthcare over the course of three days.
Privatization of the Healthcare Sector
The opening ceremony was graced by Deputy Minister of Health Hamad Al-Duwailah, as well as ambassadors from 12 countries and a large contingent of media representatives who gathered to cover the event. In his speech, Al-Duwailah expressed his great delight at the occasion and what he saw at the exhibition, He commended the participation of numerous Arab and friendly nations and expressed his pride in the exhibits that filled every corner of the exhibition, noting that the developments currently underway at the Ministry of Health will align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Al-Duwailah confirmed that the Ministry of Health is currently undergoing a privatization process, which, God willing, will be announced soon. His Excellency expressed his hope that this major international exhibition would be met with success and that these efforts would be crowned with success.

The exhibition saw a massive turnout from various professionals in the healthcare sectors, with the exhibition halls filled to capacity. The number of visitors exceeded 23,000 industry specialists, who viewed the latest technologies provided by exhibitors from various companies, medical institutions, and major hospitals. The exhibition consisted of smaller halls for exchanging views on the latest trends in healthcare and provided an opportunity for everyone to meet and network with leading organizations in this field from both the public and private sectors.
The exhibition witnessed the start of commercial negotiations for the signing of major purchase and sale contracts, and it also allowed participants to open new commercial channels and strengthen existing ones, and stay abreast of the latest technologies and trends in the sector, which were showcased by major medical device companies from within the Kingdom and abroad to bolster confidence in the Saudi healthcare market. The Saudi Health Expo brought together a significant portion of the public and private sectors.

The accompanying scientific conference successfully attracted more than 7,200 healthcare professionals who attended the scientific sessions, where they earned continuing education credits from the Board of Medical Specialties, which brought together more than 150 local, regional, and international speakers and experts through 15 scientific events, including seminars, workshops, and conferences, which served as the ideal scientific and educational platform for healthcare professionals to network and learn about the latest developments and studies in the field, in addition to participants earning 24 CME credits from the Saudi Commission for Medical Specialties to enrich their expertise .
