The Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA) involved 24 government agencies in the first phase of the mechanism for submitting 543 initiatives to the National Transformation Program, to be implemented in five phases through 2020, in line with the commitment of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, to coordinate efforts and enhance the quality and practicality of each agency’s outputs.
The ministries that submitted the initiatives
These ministries are: Justice; Finance; Economy and Planning; Health; Communications and Information Technology; Trade and Investment; Municipal and Rural Affairs; Civil Service; Culture and Media; Environment, Water, and Agriculture; Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources; Labor and Social Development; Housing; Education; Transportation; and Hajj and Umrah.
Government Agencies
The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage, the General Authority for Sports, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the General Authority for Investment, the General Authority for Food and Drug Administration, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, and the Institute of Public Administration.
Cost and Budget of Initiatives
The mechanism for approving the costs of the National Transformation Program initiatives, estimated at more than (268) billion riyals, reaffirms the approach of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, chaired by His Highness the Deputy Crown Prince, to enhance the expected impact of these government initiatives and programs by linking them to national priorities and studying their expected economic and financial returns.
