Tourism Development and Investment Initiative

One of the most important initiatives mentioned in the report is the Tourism Development and Investment Initiative, as this initiative is summarized in a qualitative shift in the national tourism system and investment to make the Kingdom the first tourist destination that provides tourists with a variety of heritage, historical and natural products, destinations and types of tourism, with high quality that meets the desires of tourists.

The Tourism Development and Investment Initiative

The tourism development and investment initiative is based on the pillars of the high level of ambitions of the Authority, tourists and investors (tourist satisfaction level), coupled with the clear and accelerated growth in domestic tourism movement (demand volume) supported by the desire of investors to develop tourism investments (supply volume), and the issuance of many government decisions supporting the care of tourism development

The initiative is based on the fundamentals of tourism development and investment.

The initiative aims to create the appropriate investment environment to develop the tourism sector to become a vital economic sector with high-quality products, services and events that enjoy the satisfaction of customers (tourists and investors), in order to diversify the base of the national economy, attract investments, increase sources of income and provide job opportunities for citizens, as (28) work gaps were diagnosed with development paths and requirements, and the program launched (31) initiatives to close these gaps, through joint work with the sectors and public administrations concerned with these gaps, and develop recommendations and successful solutions that are worked on by the sectors and departments.

Promoting the concept of decentralization

An important initiative that will bring about a qualitative shift in the tourism sector is the Authority's endeavor to empower partners, as it has worked since its inception to promote the concept of decentralization and partnership-centricity to manage tourism development in the Kingdom's regions and governorates, and works to transfer the task of implementing the National Tourism Development Plan for regions and developing their tourist destinations to the Authority's branches in the regions in a real and balanced partnership with government and private authorities and tourism development councils, including local communities.

Compliance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030

The Authority's initiatives and strategies that it has been working on for more than (15) years are consistent with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which was inspired by tourism and national heritage from the Authority's cumulative work during the past years, which made the National Transformation Program adopt this sector ready to launch and make it one of the main axes that rely on it in making economic and developmental shifts to achieve the vision of the Kingdom decided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and therefore a system of tourism and heritage projects were announced that aim to develop the tourism and national heritage industry and upgrade the political fields.

Necessary projects to develop the tourism sector

With the state's approval of a number of decisions, regulations and strategies, the next stage requires the Authority to carry out a series of major works and priority tasks covered by the comprehensive development project and the necessary projects for the development of the tourism and national heritage sectors, the most important of which are the project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to care for the Kingdom's cultural heritage and the decision to support the Authority financially and administratively, in addition to the Tourism Law and the Antiquities, Museums and Urban Heritage Law.
