Riyadh ranked 19th in the list of the most visited cities in the world during 2013 according to the Mastercard Global Destination Index 2013, which included 20 cities, including two Arab cities, Dubai and Riyadh.
According to the American magazine “Forbes”, Riyadh entered this list for the first time this year, where it is expected to receive 5.4 million visitors this year.

Istanbul and Dubai continue to gain ground. If the top ten cities maintain their current growth rates over the next few years, in 2016 Istanbul will overtake Singapore, New York and Paris in terms of the number of visitors from other countries. Dubai will overtake Singapore and New York in 2016, and Paris in 2017.
The cities in the list of the world's most visited cities in 2013 were: Bangkok, London, Paris, Singapore, New York, Istanbul, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Barcelona, Seoul, Milan, Rome, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Vienna, Taipei, Riyadh and Los Angeles.
Business visits represent the highest percentage of visits to the Saudi capital, which is the most important economic and commercial cities in the world, as it hosts the offices of most international companies, and Riyadh witnesses many conferences and economic activities that attract large numbers of visitors.
