In line with the Cabinet’s approval of new municipal service fees covering nineteen items, the Ministry will begin implementing these decisions on the 8th of Rabi" al-Thani following the issuance by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs of the regulations necessary to enforce the decision.
According to the decision announcing the new municipal fees, the fees will be implemented according to a phased schedule that allows for postponement, suspension, or non-application of any municipal service fees in certain cases, as determined by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and the authority responsible forreviewing the new fee decisions and regulations.
The new decision stipulates that the maximum fees for issuing three-year permits for the construction of residential buildings are 4 riyals per square meter, 6 riyals per square meter for mixed-use residential and commercial buildings, and 10 riyals per square meter for commercial buildings, while the same fees apply apply in the case of issuing a license to extend the construction of a building for another year; the same fees will be collected upon issuance of the license.
The new fees for the following services are as follows:
The fee for a residential building renovation permit is 2 riyals per square meter, 3 riyals for commercial residential buildings, 5 riyals for commercial buildings, and 1 riyal for fences.
As for the issuance of demolition permits, the fee is set at 2 riyals for residential buildings, 3 riyals for commercial residential buildings, 5 riyals for commercial buildings, and 1 riyal for fences.
10,000 riyals for an annual gas station license.
200 riyals for mobile vendor licenses.
12,000 riyals for licenses for hotels, hotel apartments, and resorts.
300 riyals per square meter for commercial stores.
10 riyals per square meter for wedding halls, kitchens, amusement parks, entertainment venues, and other medical and health facilities.
600 riyals in annual fees for tower operation licenses.
10,000 riyals in fees for establishing telecommunications towers.
