The Saudi Construction Expo concluded last Thursday evening, with the participation of more than 530 local and regional companies from 30 countries. The expo featured 13 international pavilions, most notably those of the United States, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Greece, Germany, the United Arab Emirates. The event aimed to highlight opportunities in this vital and sustainable sector, showcase the latest innovations, and foster business growth and investment both locally and globally. The exhibition took place from October 17 to 20 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Governor of the Riyadh Region, Engineer Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Sultan, revealed that the Saudi Construction Exhibition 2016—held this year under the theme "Challenges and Opportunities for Mega Development Projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia“— , revealed strong demand, as evidenced by the large number of visitors who flocked to learn about the latest developments in the construction industry. These visitors represented various entities that expressed their interest in collaborating with local and foreign exhibiting companies. The exhibition also saw a heavy turnout of businesspeople and those interested in the building, construction, and engineering sectors, underscoring the sector’s economic strength.
During his tour of the exhibition, the Governor of the Riyadh Region expressed his interest in the products presented by the companies, which help reflect the Kingdom’s cultural identity and highlight the economic strength of the construction market, which has kept pace with the urban renaissance the Kingdom is experiencing. At the same time, the 19th Saudi International Stone Technology Exhibition kicked off, and the 7th International Exhibition for Construction Equipment, Machinery, and Vehicles, which coincide with the Saudi Construction Exhibition. The four-day event showcases the latest products and technologies that serve the construction and building sector and contribute to its development.
For his part, Shahid Bahati, Director of the Saudi Construction Exhibition, praised the outstanding participation of exhibiting companies that have innovated modern display methods, and praised the large turnout of the public and industry professionals, describing the exhibition as one of the most important leading events in the Kingdom and a platform for direct communication between companies and a specialized audience seeking to benefit from the experiences, technologies, and services offered by participating companies. It also provides companies with an opportunity to expand their business scope and serves as a premier destination for exploring commercial opportunities available in the Saudi market."
On the other hand, exhibitors expressed their complete satisfaction with the exhibition and the results achieved in terms of visits, deals, and business agreements, Some considered their presence among their peers—to gain and exchange expertise and meet with their clients—a valuable experience and a barometer for gauging the company’s standing with customers, In a survey conducted by Amlak Real Estate newspaper, they expressed optimism about the coming year, 2017, which promises the launch of major projects that will offset the recent slump in the sector, Many companies reiterated their desire to participate in the next edition to continue presenting their offerings to clients.
