A quantum leap for domestic tourism in 2013: President of the Tourism Authority: Decisive decisions coming soon to support national tourism and the antiquities sector

Domestic tourism is witnessing a great movement to implement the largest tourism paradigm shift in the Kingdom, as the state adopts a number of important decisions, as the coming period of this year witnesses decisive decisions regarding the support of national tourism as well as the antiquities and museums sector, as well as the establishment of specialized and large companies that promote this sector that is based on the citizen's arms, which contributes to reducing the rise in various tourism services.

His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, confirmed this in a speech at a press conference held recently to talk about the details related to the Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Forum 2013, pointing out that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince are keen on the comfort of the citizen, and support tourism that directs and provides the citizen with multiple options, stressing the Commission's work with 13 government agencies to coordinate and support various tourism projects and programs that have become an urgent need for the country and everyone who lives in it.

Prince Sultan bin Salman revealed the Authority's intention to require a “qualification day“ for investors of furnished residential units before granting them a license in order to qualify them to invest in the market and learn about the Authority's procedures and ways to deal with issues and requirements related to his facility, to be qualified to own the facility and not only as an operator: ”We saw that investors, not only operators, investors themselves and owners in all activities must have a qualification program, we sometimes license investors and do not see them, and this will be an integrated day for owners of furnished apartments, and as head of the Authority, I do not sign from this month on one license, program or funding from the many funding sources that the Authority has dealt with unless the owner comes for a full day and takes an integrated qualification program with all issues related to security, safety, reception, employment and training, to activate the "Tamkeen" program.
Speaking at the press conference, Abdullah bin Salman Al Juhani, Vice President for Marketing and Programs at the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Forum, explained that the Forum is being held in its sixth session and is achieving increasing success reflected by the increasing demand for participation in the Forum from a large number of entities and companies. He said that the activities of this year's Travel and Tourism Investment Forum are characterized by wide local and international participation that includes various government and private entities related to tourism development, development and investment, and this year witnesses strong participation from the Kingdom's regions represented by the Tourism Development Councils headed by Their Highnesses the Emirs of the regions.
