Riyadh to host Qatar-Saudi Arabia Economic Forum 2016

Last week, the Qatar-Saudi Economic Forum – Saudi Economic Forum, organized by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Council of Saudi Chambers and implemented by Riyadh Exhibitions Co., Ltd., in the presence of Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih and Qatari Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Hamdan bin Abdullah Al-Samrin, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency Dr. Hamdan bin Abdullah Al-Samrin, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, “The importance of this forum, held following the launch of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, lies in strengthening mutual cooperation and bilateral trade, and maximizing economic and investment ties between the two countries in light of the challenges facing the global and Gulf economies.”

His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, President of the Qatar Chamber, also noted, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a strategic partner, and holding this event in Riyadh is nothing less than an opportunity to exchange expertise and experiences and to create more partnerships and joint projects that benefit both countries.“

For his part, Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih stated in his speech that the Gulf states have achieved economic milestones and leaps forward in a period of no more than a few decades, emphasizing that the Kingdom is the largest economy in the Middle East and a member of the G20. Meanwhile, Qatar’s Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources, Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, noted in his speech “If we seek to achieve genuine and sustainable development in the GCC countries, we must devote greater attention to industry—a motto embraced by the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition: ‘Industry… the Engine of Development.’
