Iraqis top the list of buyers in Turkish real estate, and Saudis are in second place

The number of units sold in Turkey amounted to about 1.341 million units last year, compared to sales of 1.289 million units during 2015, an increase of 4%, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute “TurkStat” yesterday, and Istanbul maintained the top of the list with sales rising by 17.3% to 232 thousand homes, while sales in the capital Ankara grew by 10.8% to 144 thousand units.

With regard to foreign buyers, Iraqis topped the list of buyers with 3,036 properties, followed by Saudis with 1,886 properties, then Kuwaitis with about 1,086 properties. <Regarding foreign buyers, Iraqis topped the list of buyers with 3036 properties, followed by Saudis with 1886 properties and Kuwaitis with 1744 properties. The total sales to foreigners decreased by 20.3% on the back of some domestic unrest, especially the attempted military coup that took place last summer.
