The Chairman of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, valued the approval of the Council of Ministers headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz - may God protect him - on the system of implementing the Saudi Building Code, considering this step a very important step in the effective implementation of the technical system that enhances the construction and building sector in driving sustainable development, stressing that the code will contribute in promoting the civilization renaissance in the Kingdom to achieve leadership and excellence in service and developmental fields, pointing out that the first version of the code was the result of efforts by KAB.
Al-Qasabi stressed that the application of the technical requirements set by the code will have an important impact in promoting the growth of the construction sector, one of the growth engines of our national economy and achieving sustainable development, noting that the Kingdom's building code system has identified a wide range of technical requirements and set all engineering rules for construction and construction to achieve safety, public health and sustainability of buildings in line with modern technologies in the world of construction and construction.
Al-Qasabi stressed that the application of the technical requirements set by the code will have an important impact on promoting the growth of the construction and building sector, one of the engines of growth for our national economy and sustainable development.
Dr. Al-Qasabi revealed that the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code has started the project of updating the Saudi Building Code and will be presented for the views of specialists at the end of the fiscal year 2017, where this version includes requirements (architectural, loads and forces, inspection and tests, soil and foundations, concrete structures, brick structures, steel structures, electrical, mechanical, energy conservation, health, fire protection, and the preparation of new codes that were not previously available, most notably the code for "green, existing, residential" buildings to cover other professional aspects of construction and construction)
The Saudi Building Code is a set of requirements and requirements that clarify the governing frameworks of laws, executive regulations and annexes related to building and construction to ensure public safety and health, to facilitate the selection of correct studies and methods appropriate to the conditions of the Kingdom and its environment, which makes it easier for engineers, technicians and citizens to do their work in clear and safe scientific ways, and puts an end to multiple different opinions and disputes, and serves as a legal and technical reference at the national level and continued by saying: We always strive for the Saudi Code to keep pace with the constant and continuous development of material experiments and their uses according to local and international specifications and to return to the repair of existing buildings, protect them, increase their life span, apply the green building system, improve energy efficiency and rationalize the consumption of water and environmental resources.
