The Big 5 exhibition, along with Middle East Concrete and BM Live 2013, which was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, was a great and surprising success, as the Dubai World Trade Center hosted the exhibition for four consecutive days (from November 25-28, 2013), adding another chapter to its long history of more than 33 years in the region... Amlak did not fail to participate in this major international event, as it participated in the media with a delegation headed by the editor-in-chief of the exhibition activities.

This year's show grew by 10% to host more than 2,500 exhibitors from 65 countries, with 60,000 construction industry professionals participating over four days.

Construction professionals come together to showcase and source the latest innovative and sustainable products, learn about the latest trends, get the latest information on regulations affecting design and construction, and identify new markets and opportunities for business enrichment.
The Big 5 opened its doors alongside Middle East Concrete, the cement industry's largest event showcasing innovative cement products, which featured technical seminars and live product demonstrations, as well as BM Live, the interactive plant, machinery and vehicle event that highlighted the latest heavy vehicles and related equipment throughout the four days of the event.

Diverse events
As part of The Big 5, regional and international experts discussed key industry issues such as sustainability, low-emission materials and energy consumption, construction project management, building interior trends, façade design, fire safety and portfolio management of aging structural assets in more than 100 free seminars organized during the event.
The exhibition showcased the best case studies from the Sustainable Construction and Design Conference, including DEWA's LEED Platinum-rated building and White Sky's iHouse futuristic home concept. In addition, on the sidelines of the exhibition, Dubai Municipality presented an introductory seminar on the new green building regulations, which are set to be launched on January 1, 2014.
Design Zone
This year's event also featured a new zone dedicated to interior design that included a wide range of products and services catering to this segment of the industry. The new zone provided an eclectic platform for the increasingly influential interior design market, which is currently worth approximately US$10 million in the GCC.
In addition to the new zone, the show has been divided into product-specific sectors, including HVAC, coatings, glues and sealants, kitchens and bathrooms, windows and doors, steel, marble, stone and ceramics, water technologies, and general construction.
Saudi participation
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Export Development Authority, participated in the exhibition, in addition to the participation of sixty Saudi companies occupying an area of 2000 square meters, under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah.
The Secretary General of the Saudi Export Development Authority, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Haqbani, explained in a press statement that the Authority aims from its first foreign participation in international exhibitions in the exhibition The BIG 5 DUBAI 2013 for the contracting and building materials sector to highlight the quality of Saudi products and their competitiveness among those from different countries participating in the exhibition, expressing his hope that the efforts and activities of the Authority reflect real added value for Saudi manufacturers, which in turn will return positively to the economy of the nation.

A large number of visitors interviewed by Amlak expressed their great admiration for the development of the exhibition, which included the best construction, design and decoration techniques.
According to DMG Events, the 2013 Big 5 has expanded its product display areas with the addition of a “Building Interiors” zone to ensure that every sector of the building and construction industry has the opportunity to showcase their products and technologies in an efficient environment.
