Dr. Hussein bin Yahya Al-Fadli, Secretary-General of the Saudi Council of Engineers, recently presented the first professional certification and membership card for the technician profession issued by the Council to an expatriate, in accordance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Interior—may God protect him—who emphasized in his directives that the issuance and renewal of residency permits for all auxiliary engineering professions, such as technical and other roles, and verifying them after professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers.

This was confirmed by Dr. Jamil bin Jarallah Al-Baqawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Riyadh Council of Engineers, who expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Interior—may God protect him—for his interest in this matter. He noted that the first membership card and certificate for a technician’s profession were issued by the Council after all necessary procedures were completed. He emphasized that the Authority has finalized all preparations to receive applications for linking technicians’ residencies in every respect—whether in terms of establishing the relevant regulations and laws or in terms of having staff ready to complete the process within a short period of time, following the establishment of the appropriate mechanism for coordination with the authority responsible for issuing residencies to technicians—the General Directorate of Passports. He noted that the Authority is fully prepared to handle the regulatory matters pertaining to technicians and to complete all their legal procedures professionally and expeditiously.

The Authority’s Chairman praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, as well as its support and backing for the professional accreditation program for engineers and technicians, which aligns with the regulations of the Saudi Council of Engineers, by linking the issuance and renewal of residence permits for expatriate engineers and technicians to professional registration. He emphasized that this linkage will achieve the desired objectives in regulating the practice of professional and technical engineering work.
