The Riyadh Region Secretariat has directed administrative and technical departments to begin implementing the “Riyadh Without Trash Containers” program following the Eid al-Fitr holiday on 8 Shawwal 1438, by sorting waste at its source in buildings belonging to the Secretariat’s departments (municipalities, divisions, units, and facilities), to serve as a model for implementation across the rest of the public and private sectors.
This was stated in a circular issued by the Municipality, a copy of which was obtained by Amlak newspaper, in which it called on sanitation officials to monitor contracting companies to ensure the program is implemented according to the established plan. The Municipality has designated green bins for inorganic waste, including plastic, glass, metal, and paper, to be collected on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, while black bins are for food waste in all forms and anything not included in the green bins; these are to be collected on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays, with waste to be placed out before 6:00 a.m.
